Blue Mountains National Park
BLUE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK is 2,690 square kms. Consisting of one long line of ridge top towns, surrounded by National Park. A good place to start is The Blue Mountains Heritage Centre - Lindsay Lane - off Govetts Leap Rd in Blackheath. It's open 9 - 4:30 daily and is closed Christmas Day.
It's a great place to pick up detailed guides for longer walks, park information and gifts. From there you can take a walk down the The Fairfax Track. It's especially designed for wheelchair access and is a pleasant paved walk to breath taking views at Govetts Leap, looking out to Pulpit Rock.
For a unique Virtual Reality Experience, pop on Oculous Rift VR goggles and travel through one the world's most spectacular canyons - Claustral Canyon - $10 for 15 minutes.

The Grand Canyon Walk starts at Neates Glen Carpark (just around the corner) and finishes at Evans Lookout (3 hours return),

National Pass in Wentworth Falls is a fifteen minute drive away.

Cool Off or Swim Laps
Local Blackheathens think they have perhaps, one of the most beautiful local pools in the area or indeed the world! (yes, we are very fond of it)
Opens 3th December 9:30am to 6:30pm -$5 adults $3:50 kids. Look for https://friendsofblackheathpool.blogspot.com (ask for a pass out and you can come and go all day). Closes 3 April.
Shop at Our Local Markets
Blackheath Growers Markets are the second Sunday of the month held in the Blackheath Community Hall. A fantastic array of fresh, regional produce. Veggies, seedlings, jams, baked goods, coffee, pickles, locally grown olives to name just a few.
Further down the mountain at Lawson Public School are the Magpie Markets on the third Sunday of the month and also has a local growers table.
Logan Brae Apple Orchard
Why not drive out along the very scenic Shipley Road and stock up on locally grown apples, famous freshly pressed apple juice, apple jelly and apple pies and tarts from Logan Brae Apple Orchard (open Sundays from 10-4pm) . Keep driving and you veer left to Hargreaves Lookout or right to Mt Blackheath which is a favourite spot for hang gliding and both places are great picnic spots with magnificent views out over the Megalong and Kanimbla Valleys.

Mermaids Cave (on Megalong Valley Road)
Lovely in hot weather - an interesting walk through cool climate rainforest to a waterfall and pool.
Govetts Leap (the end of Govetts Leap Rd)
Take the Fairfax Track to the left of the lookout (as you face the view). After a five minute walk along a well made track suitable for wheel chairs you will find a picnic table and shelter with magnificent views.
Blackheath Memorial Park
Next to the swimming pool, duck pond and children's play equipment with our famous red rocket and slippery dip. There are also free BBQs under shelter.
Enjoy a Devonshire Tea in the Megalong Valley
Visit the Megalong Tea Rooms for the best scones, home made blackberry jam with whipped cream, sandwiches, soups and plowman's lunches. From there it is a short drive drive to the creek where there is a very pretty picnic area. If you follow Megalong Valley Rd you can continue on through private gates to the National Park there, where there are some great hikes.
Watch a Movie at an Old Fashioned Cinema
Mt Vic Flicks
Any Thursday to Sunday, visit the original old-fashioned cinema at Mt Victoria, and enjoy a cup of tea in a real mug, a Choc Top or a cup of lentil soup in the winter. https://www.mountvicflicks.com.au

Art Galleries
The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba is definately worth a visit. There is a $5 entry fee that covers all exhibitions, a audiovisual tour of the Blue Mountains and it's history and landscapes, a varying array of free classes, music and the occasional art market and community chess days. There is also an excellent cafe and library.
Visit the amazing Jenolan Caves
A one and a half hour drive - https://www.jenolancaves.org.au, or join the 'Six Foot Track' and walk a short section.
On the way home - stop in Hartley at Alchemy Wood-Fred Pizza and delicious pizza, gelato, tiramisu and great coffee. Open Wed -Sun.
